Maldal.D is a worm that reaches computers in a file called DEFAULT.EXE attached to an e-mail message whose characteristics may vary on every occasion.
Maldal.D is a dangerous worm. When the DEFAULT.EXE file is run, a fake error message is displayed (Run time error ‘71’ Object required). Then, the worm causes the following effects, some of them are highly destructive:
- It deletes files.
- It attacks some antivirus programs.
A clear indication that you have received Maldal.D is a message with the following characteristics:
- Text: it is randomly chosen by the worm. It may contain certain expressions. For further information on the expressions used by Maldal.D, check out the paragraph called Means of transmission.
- Attached file:
When DEFAULT.EXE is run, Maldal.D displays a fake error message on the screen. Then, the worm carries out its infection.
