Menace is a worm that is very easy to identify, as it always reaches computers in an e-mail message with the following attachment: SOFUNNY.EXE.
When it is run, Menace tricks the user into believing that an error has occurred. However, at that moment, it goes memory resident and starts sending out data from the affected computer via e-mail, probably to the attacker.
Menace is easy to identify, as:
- It reaches computers in an e-mail message with the attachment SOFUNNY.EXE and one of these subjects:
Fwd: This is great! =) or
Fwd: This is hilarious! =)
- When it is run, the worm displays a message with the following characteristics:
Title: Fatal Error #6834
Text: An unknown error has occurred.
