Smallpox is a resident virus that does not have any destructive effects, which infects MS-DOS executable files with an EXE or COM extension. The size of these files increases by 704 bytes, but they are still operative.
Smallpox does not use any specific mean to spread. It can reach computers through the usual means used by viruses: Internet downloads, FTP, floppy disks, CD-ROMs, e-mail, etc.
