| This is a boot virus that infects the boot sector of hard disks (Master Boot or MBR) and floppy disks (Boot). This virus does not have destructive effects, as the information contained in the hard disk is not lost. When the virus infects the hard disk MBR, it goes memory resident in preparation to infect all the disks accessed by the machine unless they are write-protected. The hard disk will only be infected if the system is booted from an already infected floppy disk.|
This virus triggers its payload on the 18th of any month. This payload can get to be very annoying, as it causes the system to emit a clicking sound every time a key is pressed. In addition, it can create some faulty sectors on the infected disks. This action can be considered dangerous, as part of the information contained on the disks could be lost.
This payload can get to be very annoying, as it causes the system to emit a clicking sound every time a key is pressed. This payload will not be carried out if the system has a keyboard driver installed. This is why the payload will not be triggered on most occasions - most computers have the KEYB.COM driver installed -.
When memory resident, available free memory decreases by 2 kbytes.
