Inqtana.A is a worm that only affects computers with the operating system Mac OS X 10.4 installed.
Inqtana.A has no destructive effects, it only spreads itself in order to affect as many computers as possible.
Inqtana.A spreads via Bluetooth. It follows the routine below:
- It sends an OBEX Push request to the Bluetooth devices that are near. Bluetooth is a technology that allows wireless connections of electronic devices to be created.
- If the affected user accepts it or the system is configured to accept requests without user's approval, Inqtana.A copies its files in the default file exchange directory.
- If the computer has the CAN-2005-1333 vulnerability as well, Inqtana.A copies its files in a special folder of the operating system. This way, the worm ensures that it is run whenever the computer is started.
If you have a Mac OS X 10.4 computer, it is recommendable to download and apply the security patch for the vulnerability mentioned above. Access the web page for downloading the corresponding patch.
Inqtana.A is easy to recognize, as users are normally requested to approve the download of files to their computers.
