Brief Description

Sulf is not a virus, it is a hoax or an e-mail message designed to deceive the recipient, which advises the user to immediately delete the Windows file SULFNBK.EXE, by making them believe that it is a virus.

Sulf tries to gain the user’s trust by giving data that appears to be true. Its aim is to cause alarm and get users to forward the message.

In order to avoid problems, do exactly the opposite to what the e-mail message advises you to do:

  • Do not, under any circumstances, delete the Windows file SULFNBK.EXE (deleting this file will cause problems in the computer)
  • Do not forward the warning message, delete it immediately.

Visible Symptoms

Sulf arrives in an apparently normal e-mail message, but which can be identified by its message, which always refers to a virus that can be removed by deleting the Windows file SULFNBK.EXE.
