Panda Security has received the TECNET 2008 award for the most innovative service this year thanks to its Panda Security for Internet Transactions solution. These awards are organized by ‘Jubilo Comunicación’ (Grupo Planeta), more specifically by Seniornet, a magazine distributed together with the ‘Vivir con Jubilo’ magazine, and by the Industry, Tourism and Commerce Ministry. Its aim is to recognize the effort of individuals, companies and institutions whose activity contributes to developing new technologies in Spain.
Panda Security’s contribution is based on reducing the ‘digital gap’ and developing technologies that promote efficiency and security in business processes, and in companies that try to guarantee a safe Internet, both technologically and content-wise.
Panda Security for Internet Transactions is designed to combat online fraud and provide online banks and stores with information about the security status of their clients’ computers. This tool allows banks and businesses to ensure that users launching transactions on their websites are not affected by any malicious code. This allows them to know the security status of their users and efficiently manage risk during online transactions, therefore decreasing potentially fraudulent operations.
One of the main inconveniences for frequent users of online stores, is the mistrust generated by security problems. This tool reduces online fraud and allows companies to offer its clients a safe online environment.
Additionally, companies are not required to install any devices on their network or carry out maintenance, since the service is offered at Panda Security. This significantly reduces the investment required.
At present, 40 percent of new malware is designed for online fraud (identify and personal data theft). This type of malware targets users of e-commerce portals and websites (e.g. banks and other electronic-transaction-based sites). These users constantly risk being attacked, even when operations are carried out on a ‘trusted’ computer.
Panda Security for Internet Transactions benefits from Panda’s new Collective Intelligence approach, which detects far more malware than other existing solutions.
Collective Intelligence is an automatic online threat management system based on the knowledge accumulated in the user community, the information obtained from other Panda sources, and the direct correlation and delivery of the knowledge from our infrastructure. Currently, Panda Security’s collective intelligence network comprises 4 million computers. The knowledge accumulated in the system is composed of 9 million malware samples, 96 million malicious processes and 340 million malware correlations.
