The Panda Cloud Office Protection settings are based on the creation of profiles and groups of computers to which specific policies are assigned.
To configure a profile Select the Profiles option in the left panel of the Installation and settings tab.
To create a new profile, select Create New Profile, or click the existing profiles to edit them.
These sections will be displayed in the tree on the left of the console once you have selected the profile to edit or create.
Below are the settings elements included in the Antivirus tab.
File protection
You can enable/disable the permanent file protection, allow the protection to scan within compressed files, specify the malicious software to detect and enable/disable behavioral detection.
Enable permanent file protection: This option allows the administrator to enable or disable the protection.
Scan compressed files: The permanent protection can be configured to scan within compressed files.
Malicious software to detect: Allows the administrator to select the types of malware to be detected by the permanent protection:
Viruses (viruses are always scanned for, virus detection cannot be disabled)
Hacking tools and potentially unwanted applications
Suspicious items
Behavioral detection technologies: From version 6.0 we have included a new technology that blocks dangerous actions typically performed by malware, like launching an executable file from a Word document.
This technology uses a set of rules based on Panda’s malware knowledge and included in the new signature files.
Additionally, upon clicking Advanced settings, you will be able to select different items to exclude from the file protection, namely:
You can also enable the option to Scan files with any extension when created or modified.
Mail and messaging
In this section you can enable/disable the email protection, allow the protection to scan within compressed files, and specify the malicious software to detect. The email protection scans sent and/or received emails at protocol level. It scans outbound emails (SMTP protocol) and inbound emails (POP3 protocol), regardless of the program that sends or receives the messages.
The Mail section provides the following options:
Enable permanent mail protection: This option allows the administrator to enable or disable the protection.
Scan compressed files: The permanent protection can be configured to scan within compressed files.
Malicious software to detect: Allows the administrator to select the types of malware to be detected by the permanent protection:
Viruses (viruses are always scanned for, virus detection cannot be disabled).
Hacking tools and potentially unwanted applications.
Additionally, upon clicking the Advanced settings link you will be able to select different extensions to exclude from the scans.
Web
This section specifies how the Web protection works. It is possible to enable or disable the protection.
You can also set the configuration to detect Phising or not. As long as the protection is enabled, viruses will always be detected, by default.
