How does ActiveScan Pro work
The first time you scan your PC, you'll have to download the ActiveX controls (8 MB). The time it takes to download these can vary between 15 minutes, for a 56 Kbps modem, and 30 seconds, with a 1.5 Mbps connection.
During the process a message is displayed prompting you to confirm you want to download these components, you must accept it to begin using ActiveScan Pro.
As the disinfect option is enabled by default, ActiveScan Pro will delete any malicious code it detects. When the scan finishes, you can check the results through a practical and simple report. If ActiveScan Pro could not disinfect a malicious code, the scan report will allow you to send the infected file to Panda's laboratory, which will analyze the file and offer you a solution to the problem.
Includes a powerful heuristic system which is reinforced with the innovative TruPreventT Technologies, capable of detecting unknown malware.
On-demand protection
ActiveScan Pro is designed to detect and eliminate any malicious code that has got into your computer. However, it does not permanently protect your computer. This function is performed by other Panda products.
Remember that many viruses can delete files or send themselves to the contacts in your address book. To stop these kinds of threats you need a good security program installed on your computer. This solution should offer permanent protection and daily updates to prevent malicious code from getting into your computer.

ActiveX technology, patented by Microsoft, allows online programs to be run on computers through Internet Explorer. It also allows users to open Word or Excel documents directly through the browser or to scan the entire computer for viruses at a click.
ActiveScan Pro uses this technology to perform its functions. In order to use this tool, all you need is a web browser that supports the execution of ActiveX controls (Internet Explorer 5 or later).
Are ActiveScan controls dangerous? No, they are completely safe. They include a certificate in the name of Panda Software to guarantee the authenticity of the program. What's more, nothing will be run on your computer without your consent, as you will be informed through the browser that ActiveScan Pro is going to be downloaded and run and asked for your permission.
