Brief Description 

    

Goner.A is a worm that spreads through different means, by passing itself off as a screensaver:

  • E-mail messages with an attached file called GONE.SCR (SCR is the extension for screensavers).
  • Automatically sending this file out through ICQ.

Goner.A has several effects: it kills processes, deletes files, displays windows on screen and closes the Windows session.

Visible Symptoms 

    

A clear sign that you have received this worm is a file called GONE.SCR sent via e-mail. This file is very easy to identify as it has the following icon:

When the GONE.SCR file is run, Goner.A activates and displays a window on screen:
