Panda Software’s TruPreventTM Technologies have won the “CeBIT Highlights 2006” award for best software, at the world's largest IT fair, CeBIT. TruPreventTM intrusion prevention system won the award, against competition from nominees such as Microsoft and H264, thanks to its proven effectiveness against unknown malware.
These “CeBIT Highlights” awards, which have been running for the last 14 years, are organized by the prestigious German magazine, CHIP, and recognize the most innovative solutions in six categories: Hardware, Software, Communication, Digital Photography, Entertainment and Innovation. Thomas Pyczak, editor-in-chief of CHIP, presented the award to Jan Lindner, General Manager of Panda Software Germany.
TruPreventTM Technologies:host-based intrusion prevention system
The TruPreventTM intrusion prevention system detects and blocks unknown viruses that other conventional antivirus solutions are frequently unable to neutralize. To be able to detect a virus, an antivirus needs the corresponding entry in its signature file. Many of the latest generation malicious codes spread almost instantly, infecting thousands of computers even if they have antivirus protection, as the solution cannot be updated in time. TruPreventTM analyzes the behavior of these programs on a computer, and blocks any suspicious activity.
