For the fourth year running and as part of its program of social initiatives, Panda Security is sponsoring the athlete Javier Conde, who will be competing in the Paralympics to be held in Beijing from September 6 to 17.

This represents a fifth Paralympics appearance for Conde, a long-distance athlete with a string of excellent achievements under his belt:

- World Championship gold medal (New Zealand 2003) in 5,000 meters.

- Two Olympic gold medals (Barcelona 92 and Atlanta 96) and two silver medals (Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004).

- Gold medals in the Berlin, Birmingham, Barcelona and Lille World championships.

- Gold medals in the European Championships (Madrid and Assen).

He has also set over 10 World records in distances including 1500, 5000 and 10000 meters. In Beijing he will be taking part in the marathon on September 17, and is a firm candidate for the gold medal.

“The support from Panda over the last four years has been an important factor in enabling me to take part in these Games. It has given me peace of mind when planning my season, and that, for a sportsman, is essential. I wear the Panda logo on my head –my cap, headband, etc.- but also in my heart, because Panda has given me support over these last years of my sporting career, when I have most needed it”, says Conde.

Juan Santana, CEO of Panda Security explains: “At Panda Security we are conscious of the social responsibility that comes with being an important company. This initiative is part of many actions promoted by Panda Security to improve our world, in this case, through sport as an activity that contributes to individual and social well-being”.

Panda Security is aware of the role companies have today as engines of change and in supporting the disadvantaged. That’s why it lends its support to a wide range of social initiatives, acting on many fronts including employment, access to new technologies, education, humanitarian aid, sport and the environment.
